The hammer has two striking faces. The flat octagonal face spreads force evenly, making it useful for driving, flattening, and smoothing material. The cross peen concentrates force along a narrow edge, allowing controlled shaping, drawing, and striking in tight spaces near corners or obstructions. A steel collar provides overstrike protection, helping prevent damage to the wooden handle just below the head. A tapered Torx wedge screw expands the wooden handle within the hammer eye hole to secure the head. The hammer is made up of a Torx wedge screw, a steel head with polished faces and black powder coat finish, a steel collar with red powder coat finish, and a hickory handle with clear coat finish.</p>
