What to check before you order
- Hose size and rating. Hydraulic hose is sized by inside diameter, often written as a dash size in sixteenths of an inch (for example, -8 is 1/2 in.). Its working pressure must meet or exceed the system's maximum.
- Thread and seal type. Identify each port before ordering. JIC, ORFS, NPT and O-ring boss threads do not seal with one another, even when sizes look close. A thread gauge and caliper help.
- Fluid and temperature. Check that the hose is compatible with the hydraulic fluid and rated for the operating temperature.
- Matched components. Crimp fittings should be used with the hose and crimper they are made for, following the manufacturer's instructions.
Hydraulic fluid can inject through skin at high pressure. Relieve pressure before working on lines and follow your site's safety program and lockout procedures.
